English has become a global language. Most of the day-to-day work requires at least some form of usage of English. It is not just restricted to the corporate sector now; every sphere of life needs English now. Even if you are a homemaker and a mother, you need to communicate in English with your children's teachers; you also need to tutor your children in English these days. In a world, where communication is the key to everything now, knowing English becomes imperative to run our daily lives.
If you are in the corporate industry, you might need to communicate with a lot of people - your clients, your colleagues and so on. You might also have to prepare a lot of presentations which would invariably require you to communicate in English. People, who come from vernacular backgrounds, often find it difficult to converse fluently in English, let alone give presentations in front of an audience. And this hesitation and fear can keep you from reaching your optimum potential; it might even affect your promotions. Therefore, it is extremely important to have a sound knowledge of English. The first step you can take towards overcoming this situation is thinking in English. We often find ourselves conversing with our own selves. It might be an important decision; it might be preparation for an upcoming presentation or speech. Start doing that in English. If you have to think on your own, you can do that in English. Start thinking about your day or think about an upcoming event which would require some kind of preparation and do it all in English. Soon you will start seeing the difference in your confidence level. You would feel much more prepared. Thinking does not necessarily mean keeping quiet. You can also talk to your family members or colleagues who can converse with you in English. That way you can discuss about your decision, about what you are thinking, about your day and you will slowly develop your fluency. This way you not only gather knowledge about the language and build vocabulary, you slowly start taking control of your life and career.
Learning and speaking in English is not only limited to professionals, as I have mentioned before, it has also gained significance in a variety of arenas. So if you want to keep up with everyone around you and upgrade yourself and reach your optimum potential in your career, start thinking in English. Moreover, today most of us are connected to each other via social media and for that you must have a fair knowledge of and remain updated when it comes to communicating in English.
